Tuareg diaspora in Europe: ODTE/TANAT announces its 2026 annual meeting

Start date: 15 August 2026
End date: 16 August 2026
All-day event

From August 15 to 17, 2026, the Kel-Tamasheq community gathers in France for three days of exchange, reflection, and cultural celebration. A major event for the Organization of the Tuareg Diaspora in Europe (ODTE / TANAT).

It is within the lush green setting of Rue du Bois Renard in Le Cormier (Eure) that the Tuareg diaspora has chosen to host its grand annual gathering. This event, which has become a pillar of cohesion for the Kel-Tamasheq community settled on European soil, promises total immersion in the culture and current challenges of the Tuareg world.

A program blending Sahelian reflection and Amazigh identity

ODTE / TANAT has structured these three days to fulfill a dual ambition: strengthening community ties and reflecting on the future of the Sahel.

  • Saturday, August 15: Following a morning dedicated to organization and training in “assertive communication,” the afternoon will feature a crucial roundtable discussion on security issues, peace, and development in the Sahel. Culture will also take center stage with Tifinagh writing workshops for children, association exhibitions, and a traditional attire contest. The evening promises to be memorable, with a major musical performance featuring Mahassa from the Tartit group, Bibi Ahmed, Moctar Alhassane, and Rachid.
  • Sunday, August 16: This day will be devoted to in-depth discussions regarding the specific challenges faced by the diaspora. After a traditional tendé, the evening will conclude with a special Saday vigil around tea, punctuated by poetry, storytelling, and riddles, staying true to the ancestral oral tradition.
  • Monday, August 17: A closing morning will allow participants to wrap up the gathering before the cleanup and restoration of the site.
